SCTRMarket & tape

Sectors

A breadth read on the market: how a move is distributed across sectors, industries, and stocks, and whether it's broad or riding on a few names.

What it does03
01

Tells you whether a market move is broad — most sectors participating — or narrow, carried by a handful of names, before you draw conclusions from a headline index number.

02

Lets you drill from the whole market down through sector, industry, and market-cap tier to the individual stocks actually driving a sector's move.

03

Compares sectors on more than direction: how many stocks inside each one are advancing versus declining, and which sector is leading or lagging the pack.

Breakdown

For methodically working down from the whole market to the stocks behind a sector's move, one level at a time, sorting at every stop.

Heatmap

For a fast visual gut-check of where performance is concentrated: size tells you how much weight a sector or stock carries, color tells you which way it moved.

How you use it05
01

Drill down a level by clicking a sunburst wedge, a table row, or a treemap tile — sector to industry to market-cap tier to stock (the heatmap skips the cap tier).

02

Click the breadcrumb trail, or the table's back-chevron, to step back up a level.

03

Click a table column header to sort by that metric; click again to reverse it.

04

Click Reset to back all the way out of a drill-down and return to the top-level sector view.
